Júlio C. de Carvalho is a professor of the Graduate Course of Bioprocess Engineering and Biotechnology at UFPR – Brazil. He obtained his PhD from Federal University of Paraná at Curitiba, Brazil in 2004. After joining UFPR in 2006, he has worked mainly with FD&C bioadditives (especially biopigments and lipids), bioprocess modeling, microalgal biotechnology, bio-based chemicals (especially itaconic acid), and engineering education. He has published 62 papers, 29 book chapters, and 18 patents, with H-index = 21 and 2390 citations (GScholar), and has directly advised students for 4 Doctoral theses and 11 Masters dissertations.
