DUANE W. ROLLER is Professor Emeritus of Classics at the Ohio State University. He has published nineteen academic books and numerous articles on classical history and culture, specializing in the scientific and geographical literature of the Hellenistic period. His most recent books include The Geographical Guide of Ptolemy of Alexandria (2024); A Guide to the Geography of Pliny the Elder (Cambridge 2022), and Empire of the Black Sea (2020).
