Conor O'Brien was educated at Cork and Oxford, where he undertook research on the image of the Jewish Temple in the writings of Bede. His thesis subsequently formed the basis for an award-winning monograph, Bede's Temple (OUP, 2015). He has held research fellowships at Churchill College, Cambridge and Durham, taught at Sheffield and King's College, London, and been Fellow in History at The Queen's College, Oxford since 2020. His research focuses on the religious history of the early Middle Ages and on Britain and Ireland before the Vikings.
