Japhet Miano Kariuki, born in Nairobi, Kenya, has built a diverse and international career. He has lived and worked across Europe, America, and Asia, shaping his expertise in the interplay between the extractive, finance, and service industries. Currently based in the Philippines, he is an independent consultant and also the founder of KAFELONE®. Additionally, he is part of the World Energy Council's Scenario Study Group.
Japhet's career spans various sectors, including the extractive industry, where he worked with OLLI Consulting Group Inc. in the Philippines, and the oil and gas sector, with experience at Shell. He also ventured into logistics with Deutsche Post DHL in Germany, financial services with BNP Paribas Fortis Investment Bank in Belgium and Citibank in Kenya, and management consulting with Spatial Systems Architects in Kenya.
His educational background is equally diverse, with an advanced master's degree in financial management from Vlerick Business School in Belgium and a bachelor's degree in economics and political science from the University of Nairobi. He has furthered his studies in managerial economics and sustainability with institutions such as the University of St. Gallen, Harvard College, and ETH Zurich Centre for Sustainability in Switzerland.
